I’ve been busy the last few weeks with various things. Getting ready for this baby, getting things set up at work, getting through some reading. I’m glad I figured out one of the issues I had with productivity. While work hours are work hours, any time outside of that has to be used to either be used to take care of the kids, cooking dinner, or being personally productive. By personally productive I mean doing my own projects/writing etc. (Not a side hustle or content creation scheme.) Last year, I’d get home from work, get the kids fed and such, then sit on my phone or computer and play games or watch shows. Not good.
Kicking out games left a huge chunk of time to actually do things for myself. So now I use the extra hour or so to work on the drafts for Invisible, read for research, or these days – just rest. The third trimester means I’ve got to focus on getting ready for the baby as well which is way more important. We still haven’t agreed on a name yet and we’re running out of time.
So yeah, the handful of blog post ideas I had for the last few weeks included me ranting about how it’s unfair/biased/shady to ban menthols and flavored leaf tobacco when alcohol can be freely purchased in birthday cake flavors. There was another rant about me just abandoning my NFT’s I minted because I don’t have an audience or skill that fits that market and it’s not the end of the world. Um, another which I might pick up again later was from a writers group discussion about whether or not Creative Non Fiction is properly named since creative implies embellishment and non fiction excludes that. We came up with the term “Creative Personal Escapism” to better fit the format in some way while allowing the writer to be less constrained with facts when wanting to juice up a IRL story.
Anyway, time to get back to it.
